Short Story: Excellent Schezuan style Chinese food. Peking Duck is Excellent. Service is mediocre.

Long Story: Came here for Lunch on a Saturday afternoon. As soon as we were seated before even given an opportunity to glance at the menu, we were asked if we were going to order Peking duck (to put the order in). I would have appreciated a few minutes to glance at the menu but I understand the duck takes a long time to cook and placing the order beforehand facilitates all the food being able to come out at the same time. As for the dishes

Tofu Eggplant: 6/10 - the texture of the dish was great but there wasn't great flavor to the dish. In addition, I felt skimped on the amount of eggplant in the dish (as pictured). Could have used more spice.

Peking Duck: 8/10 - Really on par with Peking Gourmet Inn without the hype and price of PGI. Skin was crispy. Provided enough wraps and scallions. Duck was cut at tableside with nice thin cuts. I would come back for the peking duck.

Ma Po Tofu: 8/10 - Certainly a star of the show. The dish was nicely seasoned and packed a lot of heat. The flavor was rich, the tofu was soft. I couldn't ask for anything better.

Service overall was mediocre and met expectations. When I go to a Chinese restaurant, I don't expect great service to begin with - and I think it adds to the authenticity. Decor was dated.

Another interesting thing was that the wall seemed to have additional menu items listed but only written in Chinese. I had a friend translate it and did not find those items in the menu - So perhaps a secret menu for chinese people? Would be adventurous to check those out next time.

I decided on a whim to grab lunch when I was in the area and I'm sooo happy I did! A lady quickly showed me to the counter where I could place a to-go order. It was awesome that they had a lunch menu and a ton of options to choose from. Everything was reasonably priced. y for lunch because I was in the area (and starving too)! I can't ever find a flavorful, crispy, saucy, and mostly chicken (not breading) sesame chicken, so I decided to try at this place. A quick 10 minutes later I swung by (after a quick stop at TJMAXX nearby) and grabbed my order. I couldn't stop thinking about this chicken the whole drive and let me tell you, when I finally opened that order it was EVERYTHING I had hoped for!

The sesame chicken was generously saucey and crispy. It had a perfect amount of sesame seeds sprinkled on top and a side of sticky rice. The egg roll was crispy and flaky - you could tell they made these at the store and they were so much better than your run-of-the-mill egg rolls from other Chinese places.

While this spot had a generic name, is in a strip mall, and in a busy section of town DO NOT rule it out. It's super good and probably some of the best Chinese I've found around!

Food was good and comparable to other Cantonese classics. We had Peking duck, chow foon (wet and dry), and the fried pork chops among a few other dishes. The seafood fried rice was not enjoyed.
The decor however was not so good. It's kind of small and not great for any parties larger than 4 (although they will certainly try). It's dated. High chair for our kids was kind of dirty. Bathroom ok, not worse, but the walk back there made me worried.

I maybe would go back if I was a local, otherwise there are other Cantonese style Chinese restaurants I would go to.

    Can I give a 3.5?

Service: 4. Quick service- my water glass was never more than half empty before someone came to refill it, very friendly staff.

Food: A solid 3.5 star. Far from the best Chinese food I've had, but it's fair for the quality and amount of food my friend and I got.  I actually thought the duck was quite good. Skin was crispy and meat was tender and tasty. Friend ordered chicken with broccoli- typical taste and dish. Chicken wasn't overcooked and very generous in the serving. I ordered the general tso chicken- it was so dry. I had better and didn't love my dish at all.

Overall, not a bad experience - food and service were fine. Restaurant can use a nice face lift though.

Tip- if ordering the duck, let them know right when you get there so you don't have to wait too long. Then decide on your side dishes and other things while that is being made.
